March 11 (Coal Geology): The Weekly Coal Production Report for March 06, 2010 as reported by Energy Information Administration (EIA), USA.

For the week and month:

• U.S. coal production totaled approximately 21.8 million short tons (mmst)
• This production estimate is approximately the same as in last week’s estimate,  and 3.0 percent lower than the production estimate in the comparable week in 2009
• Production east of the Mississippi River totaled 9.2 mmst
• Production west of the Mississippi River totaled 12.6 mmst
• Coal Production for the month of February 2010 totaled 83.3 mmst, this estimate was 6.6 percent lower than February 2009
